Abstract

Physical literacy is a factor related to physical activity. This correlational descriptive research aimed to investigate physical literacy, physical activities, and the association between physical literacy and physical activities among older persons with heart failure. Participants were older persons with heart failure attending the Heart failure clinic at Lamphun hospital. The 88 participants were selected using simple random sampling without replacement during July - September 2022. The research instruments used in this study were a demographic and illness data recording form, a physical literacy interview measurement, and a physical activities interview measurement. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation.
The results showed that the participants had a moderate level of physical literacy and a high level of physical activities. Physical literacy had a significant positive correlation with physical activities (r = 0.656, p < .01).
The results of this study can be used as information for health care professionals caring for older persons with heart failure and for promoting physical literacy and physical activities in older persons with heart failure.
