Nursing roles in aortic valve replacement with artificial tissue structure for quick and small incision surgery

Aortic valve is a valve that separates the left ventricle and the aorta. The valvular disease are the leading cause of death of world population. Aortic valve replacement with artificial tissue structure (EDWARDS INTUITY Valve System) is a new innovation enhancing the ease of implantation through small incisions using 3 guiding sutures. The important nursing care for patient should be focus on all stages of the surgery such as preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods by monitoring changed symptoms, and preventing complications. Therefore, nurses must improve knowledge about how to prepare aortic valve replacement with this artificial tissue structure, and appropriate equipment for this minimally invasive surgery in order to provide patients with continuous care and to promote patients’ safety at all surgical periods.
