Abstract

The aims of this study were to conduct confirmatory analysis of health promotion behavior among elderly at risks with ischemic heart disease of fitted with the empirical data. The sample in this study consisted of 690 person; aged 60 to 69 years who living in Nonthaburi Municipality and Pakkret Municipality, Nonthaburi Province. The samples method was stratified random sampling. The questionnaire concerning health promotion behavior among elderly at risks with ischemic heart disease. Content validity, item objective congruence index [IOC], empirical validity, confirmation factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were used to assess the reliability. Data were analyzed using computer program, and LISREL software

The results of this study showed that the component of the health promotion behavior among elderly at risks with ischemic heart disease consisted of 6 components: nutrition, physical activity, health responsibility, interpersonal relations, spiritual growth, and stress management. The standardized factor loading of these components are between 0.50 - 0.84 consistent with the empirical data χ2 = 518.66, df = 194, p < 0. 001, CFI = 0.98, GFI = 0.94, AGFI = 0.92, RMSEA = 0.049, SRMR = 0.038.

This study suggested that the health promotion behavior patterns of the elderly were of reliable quality and conform to the theoretical concepts. Their will be used as a measurement for the elderly at risk of ischemic heart disease.
