Abstract

     Injury of inferior alveolar and lingual nerves in dentistry is uncommon. But it can occur as unexpected complications from some dental treatment such as removal of mandibular third molars, root canal therapy, implant placement, and injection of a local anesthetic nerve block.  So the principles of nerve healing and techniques of repair are necessary for taking care of patients. The purpose of this article is to provide the anatomy of nerve, physiology of injured nerve and its grading and general principle of peripheral nerve repair and nerve graft techniques. The author wished the readers will understand the basic physiology responses of nerve injury and give the proper the situations management of nerve injury from dental treatments.
