Evaluation of the efficacy between three Covid-19 test kits which manufacturers imported in Thailand.

Abstract

This survey research has the purpose to study the evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of 3 manufactories by using the rapid antigen test kids (ATK) for detecting SARS-CoV-2. The study included 4,605 patients who were the high-risk contact of South Krungthon Group and they were screening by the Comprehensive Covid-19 Response Team (CCRT team). The data collected using this survey research method from August 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021.

The resulted of sensitivity of manufacturer A, B and C were: 84 92.2%, 96.36% and 97.25%, respectively and specificity of manufacturer A, B and C were: 84.59%, 85.13% and 92.96%, respectively. The consistency by Kappa score showed that manufacturer B was the excellent level, while manufacturer A and C were a good level.

The positive predictive value of manufacturer A, B and C were: 96.02%, 93.73%, and 93.87%, respectively. Regarding the negative predictive value of manufacturer, A, B and C were: 72.88%, 91.01% and 90.21%, respectively.  The ATK efficacy for COVID-19 screening at the high disease burden area results showed that the overall of 3 manufactories were good performance.

The recommendations of this study, in case of positive result by using ATK test kits should be confirmed with RT-PCR. For those who got the negative result by using ATK test kits should be monitored and 14 days-stay at home quarantine should be recommend. For those who is the high-risk contact, got the false negative results by using ATK test kits should be confirmed with RT-PCR immediately.
