Knowledge and Protection Behaviors Covid 19 Epidemic Disease: Case study of a College of Public health in Ubonratchathani Province.

Abstract

The aims of this survey research were to study knowledge and prevention behaviors regarding COVID-19 of students at Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Ubon Ratchathani. The samples were 223 students of Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Ubon Ratchathani selected by using quota sampling technique. Instrument used in this study was an online questionnaire on COVID-19 knowledge and prevention behaviors with content validity (IOC) of 0.67. The data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations for descriptive statistics.

The results showed that: the students’ average knowledge scores were at high level (Mean 29.87, S.D. 2.63). When considering the case, 1) The general knowledge of COVID-19 is very knowledgeable (Mean 4.94, S.D. 0.91), 2) Knowledge of the COVID-19 pandemic has a high level of knowledge (Mean 6.43, S.D. 0.64) 3) The causes of COVID-19 at moderate level (Mean 3.84, S.D. 0.77) 4) Covid-19 contact issues at moderate level (Mean 4.77, S.D. 0.72)  5) Symptoms of COVID-19 gave moderate knowledge (Mean 6.86, S.D. 1.29) and 6) Treatment guidelines for COVID-19 has moderate knowledge (Mean 3, S.D. 0.92). While behavioral sections revealed that the samples were prophylactic against COVID-19. Behavioral sections that the samples were prophylactic against COVID-19 at good level (Mean 12.39, S.D. 1.26). In case of considering by individuals, the samples were found to have good COVID-19 prevention behaviors in all cases. 78.92 percentage of samples showed of the least practical were regular exercises for ≥ 30 minutes, behaved at moderate level.

The results of this study can be implemented as a guide to propose a policy of knowledge about COVID-19 prevention to organize courses and prepare students for professional experience practice in hospitals and communities.
