The Results of Scleral Tunnel 4-point fixation of Posterior Chamber Intraocular Lens
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the results and complications of scleral tunnel 4-point fixation of posterior chamber intraocular lensMaterial&methods:Fourty-eight eyes of 48 patients who underwent scleral- fixated IOL implantation were retrospectively evaluated. In all cases, intraocular lens implantation by scleral tunnel 4-point fixation was performed and the knots of fixation sutures were buries within the tunnel. The visual acuity, intraoperative and postoperative complications were reviewed. Results:Mean follow-up was 15.47 weeks (range 12 to 54 weeks).Postoperatively, visual acuity of 20/100 or better were achieved in 41 eyes(85.42%). There was no intraoperative problem related to scleral fixation. Postoperative complications and finding included ocular hypertension(3 eyes), uveitis(1 eye), hyphema(3 eye), cystoid macular edema( 2 eyes), retinal detachment (1 eye). No other complications such as suprachoroidal hemorrhage, knot exposure, or endophthalmitis were noted postoperatively. Conclusions:The scleral tunnel 4-point fixation technique resulted in no serious postoperative complications such as suture exposure and endophthalmitis. It can be used as an alternative technique for scleral-fixated IOL implantationAbstractObjective:To evaluate the results and complications of scleral tunnel 4-point fixation of posterior chamber intraocular lensMaterial&methods:Fourty-eight eyes of 48 patients who underwent scleral- fixated IOL implantation were retrospectively evaluated.
