Health status of Matthayomsueksa 1 students in a secondary school in Mueang Nakhon Phanom Municipality

Abstract

 

Objective : The purpose of the study was to study health status of Matthayomsueksa 1 students in a secondary school in Mueang Nakhon Phanom Municipality.

Method : The samples for this study were Matthayomsueksa 1 students in a secondary school in Mueang Nakhon Phanom Municipality in 2008. The 521 students were purposively selected for this study. Data collecting instrument composed of physical examination record and environmental sanitation record.

Results : Four hundred and twenty-three students (81.19 percent) were undertaken physical examination. Abnormal findings included overweight (9.68 percent), abnormal vision (5.91 percent), obesity (4.49 percent), dental caries (3.55 percent), underweight (0.24 percent), stunt (0.94 percent), rather stunt (1.87 percent), and hearing loss (0.71 percent). The environmental sanitation score was higher than passing level of health promoting schools.

Conclusion : The results of this study may be taken as baseline data for improving and developing health promotion behavior of Matthayomsueksa 1 students and have good health.
