Abstract

Objectives : 1. To study the actual perception and expectations of personnel on the
knowledge management in Prapokklao Hospital as knowledge acquisition, knowledge creation, knowledge storage and retrieval and knowledge transfer and utilization.
2. To compare the actual perception of personnel on the knowledge management in Prapokklao Hospital according to their status (age,education, position level, and experience).

Methods : All 327 samples were random selected from 2,014 persons in Prapokklao hospital. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire. Statistics used to analyzed data included percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Scheffé test.

Results : Overall opinions regarding actual perception on the knowledge management in Prapokklao Hospital were at a moderate level (regarding knowledge acquisition, knowledge creation, knowledge storage and retrieval, and knowledge transfer and utilization). Also overall opinions regarding expectation on the knowledge management in Prapokklao Hospital were at a high level (regarding knowledge acquisition, knowledge storage and retrieval, knowledge transfer and utilization and knowledge creation). When comparing with the established criterion, it was also found the satisfaction on the current knowledge management was less than their expectation.

In comparing the actual perception toward the knowledge management found that there was no significant difference among with age, education, and experience. In contrast, there was significant difference on the knowledge management of personnel found when comparing with the position level. It revealed that the operation knowledge worker group had higher satisfaction on the knowledge management than the special knowledge worker group at the .05 level of significance.

The first three areas of improvement suggested included some improvement in terms of channel to 1) knowledge management, 2) support for apparatus and environment of knowledge management and 3) knowledge transfer, respectively.

Conclusion : Actuality Regarding the Knowledge Management of Personnel in the real
situation was less than the expectation of personnel in Prapokklao Hospital.
