Abstract

This retrospective study of 95 Samutsakhon Hospital Inpatients who were admitted with low energy trauma hip fractures since October 2006 to September 2008. They were 56 patients of Femoral neck fracture and 39 patients of Intertrochanteric fracture. Their average age were 77.4 year old (60-90 year old). These patients were 22 males (23.16 percent) and 73 female (76.84 percent), were followed up 1.96 years in average time (0.02-4.89 years). The mortality rate was 30.53 percent within one year after initial low energy trauma. Sepsis was the cause of death with underlying diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and cancers.
