Results of treatment of comminuted femoral shaft fractures using Kuntscher nailings combined with cerclage wires.

Abstract

Form 1999 - 2005, Twenty one patients with closed femoral shaft fractures were treated with Kuntcher nailing combimed with cerclage wiring. All fractures wiere comminuted as Type KKK-IV according to Winquistûs Classification. The fractuers had a butterfly fragments larger than two centimeters. All fractures were surgically treated within three days after injury. Patients can be full weigth and fractures union in four months.
Satisfied results were achieved in all patients had some shortting and none had malrotation.This methode can save costs less than locking nail 5 to 10 times
