Intraorbital wood foreign body mimicking air at CT : A case report.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Computed tomography (CT) of the orbits revealed a long linear area of extremely low attenuation in the floor of left orbit of a 61-year-old man who had been poked in the eye with a piece of a wood. The appearance and attenuation of the area suggested air, so a diagnosis of orbital gas forming abscess was initially considered. Further reviewed literature indicated that wood mimicks the CT attenuation and appearance of air. A wood with diameter 0.5 cm and length about 5 cm was surgically removed from the orbit
