Effectiveness of health behaviors change programs for prevention and control diabetes mellitus and hypertension for Pluakdaeng government officers

Abstract

This pre-experimental research aimed to study the effectiveness of health
behaviors change programs for prevention and control diabetes mellitus and hypertension
for Pluakdaeng government officers. The samples were government officers who had
worked in government section in Pluakdaeng Province, Rayong devided into 117 patient
and 83 risk group. The duration of programs 8 months during June 2551 to January 2552.
The programs consist of screening for DM and HT , Behavior change 3 self by PROMISE.
Data were collect by evaluation form for knowledge of DM and HT, nutrition, exercise,
relaxation, smoking, alcohol teaching demonstration practice and office visit by mentor.
The results, risk group had higher mean score of knowledge for release stress than
patient group. The mean of blood sugar , systolic and diastolic pressure in patient group
were decrease than before program. The mean of systolic pressure in risk group was
decreased than before program by a statistically significant at p <0.001.
