Abstract
Objective : To study seroprotective rate of measles antibody in 4-year-old children
who previously had received single doses of measles vaccine or measles
– mumps – rubella vaccines at 9–12 months old
: To compare seroprotective rate of measles antibody between 4–year-old
children who previously had received single doses of measles vaccine
and received measles – mumps – rubella vaccines at 9–12 months old
Methods : A cross sectional serological study in 4 –year-old children who previously
had received single doses of measles vaccine or measles – mumps – rubella
vaccines at 9–12 months old in Kleang district from June 2112 to August 2112
: Measles antibody were measured by ELISA assays at the Department of
Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine Chulalongkorn University , Thailand
Results : 108 children were included in the study, 56 male and 52 female. Average
age 55 months SD =3.396
: The subjects were divided into two groups, 1) 73 children received only
measles vaccine and 2) 35 children received measles-mumps-rubella
vaccines
: 58 Children ( 53.7 percent) had protective measles antibody , 50 Children
(46.3 percent) had low measles antibody level that not enough for protect
measles infection
: Mean of measles antibody level 1.154 IU /ml,SD=1.131
: Range of measles antibody level is 0.06 – 5.42 IU /ml
Conclusion : 58 children ( 53.7 percent) in this study had protective measles antibody
and the other had low measles antibody level that not enough for protect
measles infection.
