Limb Tourniquet

Abstract
The most common cause of trauma-related death is massive hemorrhage from wounds involving the extremities or junctional areas, including the groin, axilla, and neck. Such bleeding can lead to death rapidly, within less than 60 seconds. Hemorrhage from extremity wounds can be controlled by several methods, such as direct pressure on the wound or the application of a pressure dressing secured with an elastic bandage. However, these methods may be insufficiently effective and time-consuming. The use of a tourniquet allows rapid and effective hemorrhage control. Therefore, knowledge of the indications, proper tourniquet application, and post-application assessment is essential in the care of injured patients.
