Abstract

This research aimed to study the l resilience quotient, depression, social support and factors related to resilience quotient and factors affecting resilience quotient of patients with end stage renal disease receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). The sample used in this research consisted of 121 end stage renal disease patients receiving CAPD at the CAPD clinic of Surin Hospital. They were randomly selected using the drawing method. The research instruments were a questionnaire consisting of four parts: 1) demographic data, 2) resilience quotient questionnaire, 3) depression questionnaire, and 4) social support questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaires were assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficients, which were equal to .81, .85 and .87, respectively. Data were collected between June, 1 2021 and January 31, 2022. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results showed that factors affecting resilience quotient among end stage renal disease patients receiving CAPD were social support and depression. Both social support and depression were able to explain 51.00 percent of the variance in the resilience quotient with statistical significance at the level of .01 (R2 = .51, p <.01). The created multiple regression equation is: Ŷ = .56 (social support) - .33 (depression). Therefore, appropriate programs or media should be developed to promote the resilience quotient and social support to help prevent depression.
