The Relationship Model among Transformational Leadership, Knowledge Creation and Innovation Management Performance in Nursing Units at Community Hospitals

บทคัดย่อ

          The purpos of this research was to study the model of relationships among transformational leadership, knowledge creation and innovation management performance in nursing units. The sample consisted of 300 head nurses with at least 3 years of experience at Community Hospitals. Stratified random sampling and simple random sampling were used. They were asked to answer three questionnaires: 1) Innovation management performance questionnaire that was developed by the researcher. The validity of this questionnaire was assessed by nine experts and had a CVI = .84, 2) Transformational leadership questionnaire, and 3) Knowledge creation questionnaire. The reliabilities were .91, .94, and .87 respectively. Two hundred ninety four questionnaires were returned, representing 98% of the total number of the questionnaires. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and Path analysis. The results of this study revealed that Transformational leadership had positive effects on Knowledge creation (β=.61), and Innovation management performance (β=.50); Knowledge creation had positive effects on Innovation management performance (β=.48) Transformational leadership and Knowledge creation had positive effects on Innovation management performance (β=.79). The results show the importance of Transformational leadership of head nurses who take the role of innovators and managers on knowledge creation of the nursing unit. Therefore nursing administrators should develop the Transformational leadership skills of head nurses and prepare them to be ready for the position in order that they are able to perform Innovation management effectively and productively.
