Development of Surgical safety checklist in Operating Room in Surin Hospital

The aim of this research and development study was to develop and evaluate outcome of the Surgical Safety Checklist using in the operating room in Surin Hospital. The study conducted 4 step: situation analysis, development, implementation and evaluation the outcome of the Surgical Safety Checklist. Sample were 47 Register Nurse in operating room. The instruments used in the research were Surgical Safety Checklist, Incident rate record form and satisfaction questionnaire about of the Surgical Safety Checklist. Data were collected by interview form the questionnaire between September 2017-March 2018. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Incidence rate and content analysis.
Results revealed that the majority of the sample were female (95.7%) age from 31-40 years (36.2%). Most of them were bechalor degree (93.6%) working experience less than 10 years (53.19%). The satisfaction level of using the Surgical Safety Checklist are good 85.1%. The feasibility are good 70.2%. There was no error i.e. wrong patient missed surgical site, forgotten equipment inside surgical site, cauterization injury and surgical site infection.
The Surgical Safety Checklist is the tool for enhancing the confidence for operation care especially in the beginner and advance beginner nurse in operating room to prevent from adversed evens of the patient.
