Prevalence of Gynecologic Cancer in Young Women at Ratchaburi Hospital

This retrospective study had objective to determine prevalence, patient characteristics, parity, risk factors, stage of disease and treatment of choice of gynecologic cancer in young women at cancer unit of Ratchaburi hospital. Materials and methods used medical record of gynecologic cancer patients who treatment at cancer unit of Ratchaburi Hospital between 1 June 2019 - 31 December 2020. Data were recorded and patient data in young women (age 15-40 years old) were analyzed by descriptive statistic in SPSS program.
Results: Among 276 gynecologic patients attended at cancer unit of Ratchaburi hospital, 42 were young women (15.2%). 21 out of 42 people (50.0%) were diagnosed cervical cancer, 9 out of 42 people (21.4%) were diagnosed endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer, Two were diagnosed primary peritoneal cancer and one was diagnosed leiomyosarcoma of uterus. In group of cervical cancer had partner more than 2 persons (76.2%) and passive smoking (57.1%). All cases of endometrial cancer had level of BMI ≥23kg/m2 (100%), moreover 7 out of 9 (77.8%) in case of endometrial cancer have BMI level ≥ 30 kg/m2, with mean of BMI level was 33.18 kg/m2. The stage of disease in young patients found that cervical cancer in early stage is 7 out of 21 (33.3%), advance stage is 14 out of 21 (66.7%). Endometrial cancer was diagnosed in early stage 8 out of 9 patients (88.8%). Early stage ovarian cancer was detected in 7 patients (77.7%).
Conclusion: Prevalence of gynecologic cancer in young women at Ratchaburi was 15.2%. Cervical cancer in the most common of gynecologic cancer. Young women with cervical cancer had number of partner more than 2 persons and passive smoking. While, endometrial cancer in young women had high level of BMI more than and equal 23 kg/m2.
