Abstract

This academic article presents the application of Design Thinking and Co-creation concepts in designing musical instruments for older adults in Thailand, aiming to promote social participation and well-being among the elderly. The article explains the five-stage Design Thinking process: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, while proposing ways to integrate Co-creation at each stage. Furthermore, it offers guidelines for application in the Thai context, considering local culture, community materials, and collaborative networks. The article provides recommendations for designers, researchers, and policymakers to foster sustainable innovation that addresses the needs of an aging society. Integration of these concepts will enhance the quality of life for older adults and support the creation of a society where everyone can meaningfully participate.
