Health literacy and Factors relation to Medical Cannabis Needs of Village Health Volunteer in Phichit Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive research objectives were to (1) Study the demand for medical cannabis use, (2) Assess the level of health literacy about medical cannabis use, and (3) Study the factors related to medical cannabis use among Village Health Volunteer (VHV) in Phichit Province. 476 samples of VHV were collected data by questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and Binary Logistic Regression Analysis analyzed the data. The research results showed that (1) 73.32% of VHV want to use medical cannabis as another treatment option. The most desired condition was cancer, with 46.37%. (2) Overall, VHV has a level of health literacy about the use of medical cannabis at a problematic level. When analyzing each aspect, it was found that The information understanding, evaluation, and application at the difficult level. There is the only access to information at an adequate level, and (3) Knowledge and attitude were moderate. The average score was 66.55 (S.D.=15.90) and 32.61 (S.D.=4.03), respectively. Factors related to medical cannabis use were having the underlying disease (p= .037), health literacy (p= .000), attitude (p= .044) and receiving information (p= .000). According to the study results, most village health volunteers have health literacy problems regarding medical cannabis use. Their attitudes and knowledge were moderate. Therefore, it should continue to build up accurate understanding for the benefit of the people
