Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submitted manuscript has not been previously published in any language and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
  • All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.
  • The manuscript has been approved by all relevant organizations/institutions for publication.
  • Conflict of interest and funding support have been clearly declared in the manuscript.
  • The manuscript file is in Microsoft Word document format and adheres strictly to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript is written in English and has been carefully reviewed for clarity, grammar, and readability.
  • The text is formatted in Calibri font, size 12, and double-spaced.
  • The manuscript must include a title, a complete list of authors and their institutional affiliations, and the name and active email address of the corresponding author. Where available, authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iDs and Scopus Author IDs.
  • The abstract must be structured into the following sections: Objectives, Methods, Results, and Public Health Recommendations, and must not exceed 300 words for original articles, review articles, and policy and practice review articles.
  • The content should have a word count of ≤ 3,000 words for original articles and ≤4,000 words for review articles, and policy and practice review articles.
  • The number of tables and figures must not exceed 8.
  • All tables and figures are referred to in the text and placed after the references.
  • Tables must be in text format only. Graphs and charts in editable format must be submitted as separate files.
  • The Clearance Form for OSIR Publication has been completed and submitted together with the manuscript (uploaded under “Other” file type). A cover letter has been submitted, confirming scope alignment, originality, and study significance (uploaded under the “Other” file type).
  • Relevant reporting guideline checklists (e.g., STROBE, CONSORT, etc.) have been completed and submitted with the manuscript. (see more details on Reporting guidelines)
  • If the manuscript is part of a thesis for graduation, a certificate signed by the academic advisor must be uploaded under “Other” file type.
  • The submission form has been completed accurately. The order of authors entered in the system must match the manuscript file exactly.

Types of Articles

Original Articles

(≤3,000 words)

Original articles present structured investigations conducted according to scientific and ethical standards in epidemiology, surveillance, public health practice, and related disciplines. The manuscript should include a clearly defined research problem or hypothesis, specific objectives, systematic methodology, data collection and analysis procedures, and conclusions that address the stated objectives and contribute to public health knowledge or practice.

Review Articles/ Policy and Practice Reviews

(<4,000 words)

These articles synthesize and critically analyze existing evidence, policies, or practices relevant to epidemiology and public health. Policy and practice reviews should provide evidence-based insights to inform decision-making and public health action.
