Goal Attainment Interaction Process : Applications for Post-Nephrectomy Recovery

Nephrectomy is considered a major operation for patients with renal calculi whose kidneys is not functioning. The operation can affect the patients’ physiology, psychology and emotion which later can eventually impact postoperative recovery. Applying a proper nursing theory can be beneficial for patients and can develop quality of care for patients with nephrectomy. The aim of this article was to describe an application of a transaction in patient with renal calculi after undergoing nephrectomy. The article is comprised of topics as follows: renal calculi, treatments of the renal calculi, effects of operation, postoperative recovery, and goal attainment interaction process. The Goal attainment interaction process and nursing care that are presented in this article could be used as an alternative for caring patients with nephrectomy.
