Effect of Educational Information with Video Compact Disc on Anxiety Level of Patients Undergoing Bronchoscopy

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted by quasi-experimental, two group pre-post test design. The purpose was to determine the effect of educational information with video compact disc  on anxiety  level patients who were derived undergoing bronchoscopy 217 patients who first received bronchoscopy was assigned to control and experimental group at out patient Bronchoscopy Unit. Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of  Medicine, Faculty of  Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital,  Mahidol University. The control group received usual care from nursing staff while the experimental group received educational information with video compact disc.Research instrments included the demographic questionnaire and the Spiellberger Stat-Trait Anxiety Inventory.Descriptive and t-test statistics and t-test were used data analysis.The result of this study showed that the mean score of anxiety in experimental group after receiving the educational information with video compact disc  were a lower than preparative at p=0.000. There was a statistical difference between the mean score of anxiety between control and experimental group.The patients should receive educational information with video compact disc before undergoing bronchoscopy.
