Evaluation of the Project “the 3 Million 3 Years to Quit Smoking for the King throughout Thais” in Health Region 10

Abstract

An evaluation research project 3 million 3 years of the project quit for King in Health region 10. The theoretical framework used in this study was based on the concept of RE-AIM. The sample consisted 2 groups 1) 376 service users are community dwellers and 13 informants 2) 385 health care providers included village health volunteer, public health nurse officer, public health officer, district health office, province health office and 29 informants. Data were collected by questionnaire, indept-interview, non-participant observation. The instruments used in this study consisted of a questionnaire of project evaluation for service user, and a questionnaire of project evaluation for health care provider. The two latter questionnaires were tested for their reliabilities which equaled 0.98 and 0.95 respectively. The data were collected between October and December, 2017, and analyzed through descriptive statistics and content analysis. The results are as follows:


  • Most of service users (80.30) were male, with mean age of 48.21±14.19 The results in every aspect was a high level. The study also revealed that the highest mean was reach (3.90±1.19), effectiveness (3.83±1.22), implementation (3.76±1.00), adoption (3.65±1.31), and maintenance (3.62±1.10) respectively.

  • Most of health care provider (66.23) were female, with mean age of 45.94±9.63 The results in every aspect was a high level. The study also revealed that the highest mean was reach (3.87±0.80), effectiveness (3.74±0.88), implementation (3.71±0.91), adoption (3.68±0.92), and maintenance (3.65±1.00) respectively.

Recommendations should maintenance promoting and follow up the project. Village health volunteer, should join a training course, standardized cessation techniques support and to develop up-to-date education media. Facilitating autonomous motivation and stimulation family support and social support for smoking cessation.
