Abstract

This descriptive correlational research aimed to examine the relationships between health literacy, digital health literacy, and health behaviors among undergraduate nursing students. The sample consisted of 179 undergraduate nursing students at a university who received online-only teaching course during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were selected by purposive sampling. The online questionnaires included the Demographic Data Questionnaire, Health Literacy Questionnaire, Digital Health Literacy Questionnaire, and Health Behaviors Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients. The results showed that more than half of the students had adequate health literacy and moderate health behaviors, and the mean digital health literacy score was rather high. In addition, the results revealed that health literacy and digital health literacy were positively associated with health behaviors. Thus, developing health literacy and digital health literacy in nursing education is essential. Learning activities should be designed to improve communication skills, interactive skills, and media and information literacy to promote healthy behavior of nursing students.
