Abstract

Drug patch test (DPT) is a type of patch test which is used to diagnose drug hypersensitivity reaction caused by type IV, delayed type hypersensitivity. This test is considerably useful and safer than oral challenge test, which is a gold standard. However, there are many factors influencing the sensitivity of DPT such as drug formulation, vehicle, concentration, and type of drugs. This article reviews how to perform and interpret DPT in patients with drug hypersensitivity.
