Cyberbullying Behavior and Cybervictimization Among Nursing Students

Cyberbullying behavior and cybervictimization is an increasingly common problem and spreading rapidly. This research was the descriptive comparison research that aimed to study 1) the cyberbullying behavior and cybervictimization among nursing students, 2) compare the cyberbullying behavior and cybervictimization among 1st to 4th year nursing students. The sample consisted of 300 nursing students, recruited by a stratified random sampling technique then simple random sampling technique, during March to September 2018. The research instruments included a demographic information sheet, the Cyberbullying Behavior Questionnaire and the Cybervictimization Questionnaire developed by Doane et al., and the Social Desirability Scale developed by Panthulawan et al. The reliability war tested and yielded as 0.84, 0.82 and 0.81. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple comparison test by Scheffe’ test.
The results revealed that:
Thirty-eight percent of the subjects were not found to have cyberbullying behavior and 62.20% had cyberbullying behavior. The overall cybervictimization founded that 26.00% were not found to have cybervictimization and 74.00%had cybervictimization. Furthermore, it was found that mean scores of cyberbullying behaviors and cybervictimization among 1st to 4th year nursing students were not significantly different at the .05 level. The results of this study can be used to prevent and reduce the cyberbullying behavior and cybervictimization problems of nursing students.
