and 58 were in the group after implementing guideline. The process use guidelines based on the conceptual framework proposed by the National Council for Health and Medical Research. Australia (NHMRC, 1999, 2000). The research instruments consisted of 1) demographic data recording form, 2) the nursing guideline of people with type 2 diabetes, 3) health education handbook for people with type 2 diabetes, 4) Interview form regarding knowledge of self-care for controlling sugar levels, 5) Self-care interview form for non-insulin dependent diabetic patients

, and 6) Automatic blood glucose analyzer Mindray brand version BS 400. All instruments were tested for content validity and reliability. Data were analyzed in the knowledge of self-care, self-care behavior, and blood sugar levels by using descriptive statistics.

                 The study found that:

  1.  Good level of knowledge about self-care was found in the group before implementing the guidelines as 37.88% and the group after implementing the guidelines as 70.69%.
  2.  The level of self-care behavior at a good level was found in the group before implementing the guidelines as 21.21% and group after implementing the guidelines as 79.31 %.
  3.  The sample group that could control blood sugar level was found in the groups before implementing the guidelines as 24.24 % and groups after implementing the guidelines as 67.24 %.

The results indicated that the guidelines implementation improves diabetes control. Therefore, the guidelines should be proposed to the administration team in order to enhance continuously the guidelines implementation.
