Abstract

Knowledge management is important to the success of nursing organizations in hospital quality development.This descriptive study examined nurses’ perceptions regarding knowledge management at Sriphat Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University.The sample included 126 nurses performing services directly to patients.The research instrument was a Thai version of Lawson’s Knowledge Management Assessment Instrument (2003), which was translated from English to Thai by the researcher.Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was .84.Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

          Results were as follows : knowledge management as perceived by nurses in Sriphat Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University was at a high level ( = 3.65, SD = 1.15). All individual dimensions were also at high levels. The highest mean score was knowledge dissemination ( = 3.74, SD = .84), and the lowest mean score was knowledge storage ( = 3.56, SD = .88) Results suggest that hospital and nurse administrators can use the results of this study as a basis for the improvement and promotion of efficient and effective knowledge management in hospitals.
