พยาบาลเป็นบุคลากรทางด้านสุขภาพที่มีความรู้ความชำนาญจากประสบการณ์ตรงและความเชี่ยวชาญที่สามารถในการมีอิทธิพลต่อนโยบายสุขภาพ การศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาแบบหาความสัมพันธ์ครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาระดับสมรรถนะทางการเมืองและการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองและศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสมรรถนะทางการเมืองและการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของพยาบาลในโรงพยาบาลระดับตติยภูมิ สาธารณรัฐเคนย่า กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ศึกษาเป็นพยาบาลจำนวน 347 คนจากโรงพยาบาลตติยภูมิ 2 แห่ง คัดเลือกโดยใช้การสุ่มแบบชั้นภูมิ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการรวบรวมข้อมูล คือ แบบวัดสมรรถนะทางการเมือง และการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมือง ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาคของทั้งแบบวัดสมรรถนะทางการเมืองและการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองเท่ากับ .82 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติพรรณนาวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์แบบสเปียร์แมน ผลการศึกษาพบว่าพยาบาลมีสมรรถนะทางการเมืองและการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองโดยรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง สมรรถนะทางการเมืองมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับปานกลางกับการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ผลการศึกษาสามารถใช้เป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานสำหรับผู้บริหารการพยาบาลในการพัฒนากลยุทธ์เพื่อปรับปรุงสมรรถนะทางการเมืองและการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของพยาบาล
