บทบาทพยาบาลในการส่งเสริมคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้บริจาคไตที่มีชีวิต

การปลูกถ่ายไตในปัจจุบันนั้นนับว่าเป็นการรักษาที่ดีที่สุดสําหรับผู้ป่วยไตวายระยะสุดท้าย เนื่องจากหากไตใหม่ทําหน้าที่ได้ดีแล้วจะสามารถทดแทนไตเดิมได้สมบูรณ์ ส่งผลให้ผู้ป่วยจะมีชีวิตที่ยืนยาวกว่าการบําบัดทดแทนไตวิธีอื่น การปลูกถ่ายไตที่ได้จากผู้ที่มีชีวิตมีจำนวนเพิ่มขึ้นเนื่องจากความไม่เพียงพอของจำนวนไตที่ได้จากผู้บริจาคที่เสียชีวิตแล้ว จึงทำให้การปลูกถ่ายไตที่ได้จากการบริจาคไตจากผู้ที่มีชีวิตเป็นทางเลือกที่ได้รับความสนใจ อย่างไรก็ตามภายหลังการบริจาคไต ผู้บริจาคไตที่มีชีวิตยังมีความเสี่ยงที่จะได้รับผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพทางกายและจิตใจ ส่งผลให้คุณภาพชีวิตลดลง พยาบาลจึงมีบทบาทสำคัญในการส่งเสริมให้ผู้บริจาคไตที่มีชีวิตได้มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีหลังจากบริจาคไตครอบคลุม 4 มิติ ได้แก่ ภาวะสุขภาพและหน้าที่ของร่างกาย สังคมและเศรษฐกิจ จิตใจและจิตวิญญาณ และครอบครัว ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้ผู้บริจาคไตที่มีชีวิต สามารถใช้ชีวิตต่อไปได้อย่างเต็มศักยภาพ
