การมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาจึงเป็นสิ่งที่มีความสำคัญเพราะการพยากรณ์โรคมะเร็งไม่แน่นอน การวิจัยเชิงพรรณนาหาความสัมพันธ์มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัด และศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนและการสนับสนุนข้อมูลกับการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัดที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ 1 ถึง 15 ปี จำนวน 85 ราย เครื่องมือรวบรวมข้อมูล ประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัด แบบสอบถามการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนของผู้ดูแลเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งและแบบสอบถามการสนับสนุนข้อมูลของผู้ดูแลเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็ง ค่าความเชื่อมั่นสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาคเท่ากับ .94 .95 และ.97 ตามลำดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สัน
ผลการวิจัยพบว่าการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัดอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง การรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนของผู้ดูแลเด็กป่วยมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับสูงกับการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัด อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (r =.69, p<.01) การสนับสนุนข้อมูลมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับปานกลางกับการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้ดูแลในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัด อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (r =.49, p<.01) ดังนั้นในการวางแผนการพยาบาลหรือการวิจัยจึงควรเน้นส่งเสริมการรับรู้สมรรถนะแห่งตนและการสนับสนุนข้อมูลแก่ผู้ดูแลเด็กป่วย เพื่อพัฒนาให้ผู้ดูแลมีส่วนร่วมในการตัดสินใจดูแลรักษาเด็กป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ได้รับเคมีบำบัด
