สิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาล เป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งที่ส่งเสริมให้การปฏิบัติงานของพยาบาล
มีคุณภาพ การศึกษานี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงเปรียบเทียบ (Comparative Design Research) มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลของพยาบาล และเปรียบเทียบสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลของพยาบาลงานผู้ป่วยนอกและงานผู้ป่วยใน โรงพยาบาลฝาง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ประชากร คือพยาบาล
ที่มีประสบการณ์การทำงาน 1 ปีขึ้นไป จำนวน 135 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษา คือแบบสอบถามสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติของดัชนีงานพยาบาลฉบับภาษาไทยของ Nantsupawat (2011) ซึ่งแปลมาจากแบบวัดสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติงาน (The Practice Environment Scale) ของ Lake (2002) โดยมีความเชื่อมั่นเท่ากับ 0.94 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา และการทดสอบค่าที (T-test)
ผลการศึกษา พบว่า คะแนนสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลตามการรับรู้ของพยาบาลจัดอยู่ในหมวดพึงพอใจ สิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลตามการรับรู้ของพยาบาลงานผู้ป่วยนอกและพยาบาลงานผู้ป่วยในมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (t=-2.24, p<.05) โดยคะแนนสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลของพยาบาลงานผู้ป่วยนอก มีค่าเฉลี่ยต่ำกว่าพยาบาลงานผู้ป่วยใน
ผู้บริหารทางการพยาบาลสามารถนำเอาผลการศึกษาครั้งนี้ไปใช้เป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานในการปรับปรุงสิ่งแวดล้อมการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลในทุกหน่วยงานของโรงพยาบาลให้ดียิ่งขึ้นไป
