มะเร็งเต้านมนับเป็นปัญหาสุขภาพที่สำคัญทั่วโลก พบเป็นอันดับ 1 ของผู้ป่วยมะเร็งทั้งหมด ผู้ป่วยที่เป็นมะเร็งเต้านมในระยะเริ่มแรกนั้น มักใช้วิธีการผ่าตัดเป็นการรักษาหลัก ร่วมกับวิธีการรักษาทางเลือกอื่น ขึ้นกับชนิด ระยะของโรค และความเหมาะสมสำหรับผู้ป่วยแต่ละราย พยาบาลเป็นผู้ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในการดูแล ให้คำแนะนำผู้ป่วย การเตรียมทั้งสภาวะจิตใจและร่างกายของผู้ป่วยเพื่อให้พร้อมเข้ารับการผ่าตัด และลดภาวะแทรกซ้อนหลังผ่าตัด ผู้เขียนได้นำประสบการณ์ ความรู้ และทบทวนวรรณกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้อง ในเรื่องโรค ชนิด ระยะของมะเร็งเต้านม และการพยาบาลที่สำคัญ เพื่อถ่ายทอดความรู้ให้ผู้อ่านได้มีแนวทางในการดูแลผู้ป่วยมะเร็งเต้านมที่ได้รับการผ่าตัด ได้อย่างเหมาะสม ปลอดภัย ส่งผลให้ผู้ป่วยมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น
