Abstract

This research and development aimed to study the effectiveness and determine the satisfaction of using a lid cut infusion set for improved safety. The study employed three stages: 1) situation analysis and needs assessment, where the informants were 15 persons, including professional nurses and staff involved in waste management. Content analysis was used for data analysis, 2) designing a lid cut infusion set by a researcher and validated by three experts; 3) testing and satisfaction assessment undertaken by 33 health care providers. The research instrument utilized the lid cut infusion set and satisfaction questionnaires on the lid cut infusion set’s use. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The result revealed lid cut infusion set It looks like a decorative blade uneven parts and use sandpaper to chamfer then use the nut to attach the blade to the gallon cap, a high level of satisfaction when using the lid cut infusion set overall (Mean=4.45, S.D.=0.50). The research findings suggest that health care providers should utilize the lid cut infusion set for improved safety in sharps waste removal, which is easy, convenient, and safe.
