Effects of Transformative Learning for The Emotional Quotient of the 3nd year nursing students in Nursing Care of Persons with Mental Health Problems Practicum

The purposes of this quasi-experimental research using the pretest -posttest design were to compare: 1) Emotional Quotient in nursing students before and after received Transformative Learning, and 2) Emotional Quotient in nursing students who received Transformative Learning and those who received regular teaching. The research consists of a sample of 40 nursing students who received Transformative Learning and those who received regular teaching.They were matched-pairs with parenting , average income of the family and stress
the students and then randomly assigned to either an experimental or control group, 20 subjects in each group. The experimental group received Transformative Learning and the control group received regular teaching. The research instruments used in this research were: 1) the Transformative Learning program, 2) The Emotional Quotient Scales. All instruments were tested for content validity by 3 experts. The Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient reliability of this instruments were .91 Data was analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test. Major findings were as follows:
1. The Emotional Quotient Scales of nursing students after received the Transformative Learning program was statistically significant more than before receiving the program at p .05 level,
2. The Emotional Quotient Scales of nursing students after received the Transformative Learning program was significantly more than those in the control group who received the regular teaching at p. 05 level.
