Application of nursing theory for a student-centered teaching

The purposes of this: 1) To synthesize research on 3 types of student-centered teaching, case study, Problem-based Learning: PBL and Cooperative learning. 2) Development of teaching theory by applying Peplau’s Interpersonal Relations to counseling. Research methodology applied by research and development (R&D). Analytical unit were 30 nursing teaching research and 22 nurse-students (2nd year) of Phrachomklao Nursing College, Phetchaburi Province. Samples of meta-analysis were 30 researches from criteria and 22 nurse-students from the quota in teaching and counseling. The tools were research record and focus group record. Analyze data (effect-size) with meta-analysis and compare variance with ANOVA statistics and focus group analyze by content analysis. Results: 1) Case study was the highest effect-size (d) 10.08 and overview the highest (d) 1.73 too. ANOVA was no significant. 2) Case study applied and could on procedure according to the 4-step process of Peplau’s Interpersonal. On focus group, The 2nd year nursing students suggested that increase time for counseling skill. The difficult step was except identification, which must be improved in further.
