The effect of an integrated teaching and learning management program on the knowledge of Health Assessment and Holistic Basic Nursing Practice Techniques: Nursing Principles and Techniques

Abstract

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to compare before and after results of the average knowledge scores on health assessment and holistic basic nursing techniques of nursing students, once participating in the integrated teaching program. It is also to study student satisfaction towards teaching and learning management on health assessment and the holistic basic nursing practice techniques among nursing students. The sample group was consisted of 138 Bachelor's Degree nursing students in the second year of their academic year in 2021. The tools used were knowledge test on health assessment, the holistic basic nursing techniques and the satisfaction assessment form towards teaching and learning on health assessment and the holistic basic nursing practice techniques by the students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Paired t-test.

The results showed that the mean scores of knowledges on health assessment and the holistic basic nursing techniques of nursing students after participating in the integrated teaching management program were higher than before their participation, with statistical significance at the .01 level (Mean=2.90, SD.=.86) and overall satisfaction at the highest level. (Mean=4.61, SD.=.58)
