Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the effect of the self-efficacy and 2M2V program (wearing masks, washing hands, distancing, vaccination) on knowledge and self-efficacy in prevention of COVID-19 among upper primary school students. The sample consisted of 46 upper primary school students who were recruited using simple random sampling. Data were collected from one group before and after receiving the     4 week program. Research instruments were 1) the self-efficacy and 2M2V program, and 2) data collection instruments, including knowledge and self-efficacy in prevention of COVID-19 questionnaires that were reviewed for content validity by three experts and pilot tested with 10 participants, yielding Cronbach’s alphas of .83 and .86 respectively. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon sign rank test. Results showed that knowledge score was higher than before receiving the program (Mean = 17.35, SD. = 2.70) with statistical significance at <.05. Self-efficacy score was also higher than before receiving the program (Mean= 4.61, SD. = .35) with statistical significance at <.05.

From the findings, the systematic activities of the program promoted the ability of students to prevent COVID-19. Therefore, this program should be implemented with students of other age ranges and other infectious respiratory diseases to reduce the incidence of diseases.
