Health Literacy and Health Behaviors Among People with Hypertension A Sub-District Community Hospital

This descriptive research aim to study health literacy and health behaviors Among people with Hypertension. The 178 participants were recruited by a purposive sampling who registered treatment at Don Kaeo Community Hospital. The research tool were demographic data, The health literacy questionnaire with hypertension had KR-20 value of .75 reliability and The health behavior questionnaire with hypertension. had a Cronbach Alpha Coefficient of .85 respectively. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics.
The results showed that people with high blood pressure have basic health knowledge and understand about hypertension at moderate levels. (Mean=11.03, SD.=2.25) because the sample had an average duration of illness 5 years or more. Therefor they received basic knowledge about Hypertension from health care team. Another health behaviors with hypertension were at low levels (Mean=38.41, SD.=6.53). possibly due to lack of awareness or influencing from other factors.
The results from this study can be used as a guideline to promote well-rounded health in people with high blood pressure of Don Kaeo Community Hospital To increase knowledge of health better and practice proper health behaviors suitable for the disease in order to reduce the severity of the disease reduce the complications of the disease resulting in a good quality of life.
