Effective of Maintenance Care on Plaque Index in Periodontitis Patient During Maintenance Therapy in Pattani Hospital

This One-group quasi-experimental study, pre and post score was done to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance care in the periodontitis patients during maintenance therapy in 27 patients in Pattani hospital. Research instruments are maintenance care and plaque index chart for recording plaque score, the teeth were stained with erythrosine. Index of item objective congruence was .67- 1.00. Dependent t-test was used to analyze the effectiveness of maintenance care and One sample t-test was used to compare with the goal of plaque score ‹ 20%.
The results of this study shown the reduction of plaque score after the maintenance care was performed from 48.02% ± 15.43% to 28.96% ± 12.48% at significance level of 0.001 but the scores on 2 months later › 20% at significant level < .001.
The maintenance care should be performed during periodontal maintenance therapy to keep good oral hygiene and plaque control for the prevention of recurrent periodontal disease and the stability of a current condition.
