This quasi-experimental research, a two-group pretest-post-test design. The objective was to examine the effects of belief modification of reducing sodium consumption program on blood pressure levels among persons with uncontrolled hypertension. The samples were 48 uncontrolled hypertension patients who received treatment in Watthana-Nakhon Hospital Sakaeo province. The samples were selected by purposive sampling, with 24 persons divided into the control and experimental groups. The control group received usual care and the experimental group received the belief modification of reducing sodium consumption program, developed from the theory of Health Belief Model. In contrast, the experimental group underwent a four-week. The research instruments consisted of a blood pressure monitor, a knowledge assessment tool regarding the reducing sodium consumption questionnaire, and a behavior questionnaire to reduce sodium. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests.
The results showed that the experimental group had a higher mean knowledge score after the program (mean = 44.29, SD = 2.03), scores in sodium-reduction dietary behaviors after the program (mean = 42.08, SD = 0.97), and the mean blood pressure of persons with uncontrolled hypertension after receiving the health-promoting program was significantly lower than that before receiving program and lower than that in the control group at the significant level a .05
