Abstract

BACKGROUND: The convenient and rapid screening of diabetes risk among populations will help people become aware of the risk factors for diabetes and adjust their health behavior promptly. To reduce the risk of diabetes, the researchers developed a mobile application to self-assessment the risk of developing type 2 diabetes under the 2017 Diabetes Practice Guidelines.

OBJECTIVES: To study risk factors and the risk assessment process for type 2 diabetes under the Diabetes Practice Guidelines 2017, to implement a type 2 diabetes risk assessment form under the practice guidelines for Diabetes 2017 developed as a mobile application that will benefit people in self-assessment of the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and to assess the level of satisfaction in using the application developed for assessing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

METHODS: This participatory development research was conducted to obtain information from research studies that led to the development of the mobile application, using the Waterfall Model, and the dissemination of the application. This was useful for people in the self-assessment of the risk of type 2 diabetes. The satisfaction of using the application was assessed from samples of 20 personnel of the Muang Wat Bul medical center who used the application. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics.

RESULTS: The application could be used to accurately assess the level of risk for type 2 diabetes on mobile devices under the process for assessing the risk of type 2 diabetes according to the 2017 Diabetes Practice Guidelines. When assessing the satisfaction of using the program using the satisfaction questionnaire, the result showed that the satisfaction level was "very good", with the mean level of satisfaction () between 4.3 - 4.8.

CONCLUSIONS: The results of the study showed that the research team can develop a mobile application to be used to assess the risk of type 2 diabetes appropriately. The dissemination of the application could allow people to use it to assess their own risk of type 2 diabetes.
