Outcome of Early Hip Fracture Surgery in Elderly Patients in Ramathibodi Hospital: A Prospective Cohort Study

Abstract
โรคกระดูกพรุนเป็นโรคที่พบบ่อยในผู้สูงอายุ และมีผลต่อคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วยเป็นอย่างมาก รวมทั้งส่งผลกระทบต่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของประเทศไทย แม้ว่าวงการแพทย์จะมีความก้าวหน้าอย่างมากในหลาบยๆ ด้าน โดยเฉพาะมียาต้านกระดูกพรุนใหม่ๆ ที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูง มีการดูแลผู้ป่วยกระดูกสะโพกหักทั้งก่อนและหลังผ่าตัดที่ดีขึ้นอย่างมาก รวมทั้งเครื่องมือผ่าตัดยึดตรึงกระดูกรุ่นใหม่ๆ ที่ได้รับการพัฒนาออกแบบให้มีความแข็งแรงมากขึ้น แต่อัตราตายและอัตราทุพพลภาพในผู้ป่วยเหล่านี้ยังไม่ลดลง ภาควิชาออร์โธปิดิกส์ โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ได้จัดตั้งโครงการดูแลผู้ป่วยกระดูกสะโพกหักแบบครบวงจร ผลการดำเนินงานพบว่าแนวทางที่ใช้ในการรักษามีประสิทธิภาพ ผู้ป่วยมีแนวโน้มดีขึ้นเรื่อยๆ อย่างไรก็ตามยังคงต้องมีการศึกษาวิจัยอย่างต่อเนื่องเพื่อให้ได้ประสิทธิผลการรักษาที่ดีขึ้น ทั้งในด้านคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วยและผลกระทบต่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของประเทศ
