Abstract
Information technology has been applied to create a system called “Verification of Attendance of Students Utility; VASU” to record and process class attendance data of the second and third year medical students. Furthermore, this system can automatically send notification via emails to relevant teachers and staff when the percentage of absence hours in a particular subject of each student is more than the set threshold which are 10, 15, 20 and more than 20 percent. Recording and processing data via the VASU system are more convenient and use less time compared to the old process. This system can reduce the total time spent on the whole process from 7,249 minutes when using the old process to 15 minutes. Moreover, the VASU system can display data in many formats which makes an analysis of the class attendance information became more conveniently. In conclusion, using the VASU system allows teachers and academic staff who are responsible for monitoring students to track students’ records faster and more effectively.
