Abstract
Objective: This study explored factors affecting research conducted by administrative staffs of the Education Department, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, including problems during research and potential approaches to promote research among administrative staffs.
Methods: Questionnaires on research experiences were distributed to administrative staffs having at least bachelor’s degree (n = 114). Data were analyzed for means, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was applied to construct the predictive equation on factor affecting research achievement.
Results: The majority of subjects in this study was an educator with age ranging from 31 to 40 years old. Duration of working at the Education Department of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital was from less than one year to five years. Only 28 percent of the subject (n = 32) had conducted research. The self-reported scores regarding factors affecting research achievement, such as knowledge of research methodology and motivation to conduct research, were in moderate level (Means = 3.12 from the total score of 5). The research of personnel is different between the level of education and the affiliated agencies (p 0.05).
Conclusions: A factor that significantly predicted the research achievement was motivation factors conducting research. Based on the regression model (Y = 0.848 + 0.657X3), A factor contributed to 31.8 percent of predicting research achievement in the administrative staffs.
