Abstract

The administration of chemotherapy is at risk of extravasation. Nurses play a vital role in preventing and
managing the risk properly since the extravasation can lead to tissue damage and necrosis. Therefore, nurses
must have knowledge and understanding relating to types of chemotherapy, factors that cause extravasation,
level of extravasation, as well as signs and symptoms of it. For the clear practice guideline and the skills, there
is a nursing guideline for prevention and management of chemotherapy extravasation in order to prevent and
decrease the severity of this condition, brings about safety, and reduce a risk that may occur in patients.
