Physical Therapy in Facial Paralysis

Abstract

Facial paralysis caused by cranial nerve 7 disorder resulting in facial muscle weakness one side. Although this disease is not life-threatening but affecting the quality of life include physical, psychological and social interaction, leads to depression and interfere with daily life. Physical therapy in facial paralysis to help improve blood circulation of face, decrease tightness of facial muscle and stimulate the facial muscle to be strong. It’s an easy, can do at home and no cost. So physical therapist should give advice and encourage the facial paralysis patient to follow self rehabilitation protocol to eliminate complication and to enhance quality of life of the patient with facial paralysis.
