Abstract

Objective: To define normal values of Electroretinography (ERG) and Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) using VerisTM Clinic V.6.4.6. (contact lens electrode) in Siriraj hospital and using these values as a reference data.

Materials & Methods: ERG and VEP values were measured using VerisTM Clinic V.6.4.6 (contact lens electrode) in 20 healthy subjects (40 eyes) without history of ocular and/or systemic diseases that will affect ERG and VEP values.

Results: Twenty healthy volunteers (40 eyes) : 10 males and 10 females with the age range from 19 – 55 years old (mean 34 years old). ERG values were as followings – the amplitude of b-wave of Dark-adapted 0.01 ERG was > 195.2 microvoltage (µV), the amplitude of a-wave and b-wave of Dark-adapted 3.0 ERG were > 212.7 µV and > 343.0 µV, the amplitude of a-wave and b-wave of Dark-adapted 10.0 ERG were > 290.9 µV and > 344.9 µV, the amplitude of oscillatory potentials amplitude (op)1, 2, 3 and 4 of Dark-adapted 3.0 oscillatory potentials amplitude of were > 22.0 µV, > 39.3 µV, > 35.1 µV, and > 18.2 µV, the amplitude of a-wave and b-wave of Light-adapted 3.0 ERG were > 25.4 µV and > 109.8 µV, the amplitude of b-wave of Light-adapted 30 Hz flicker ERG was > 103.3 µV. VEP values were as followings the amplitude and latency of Flash VEP were > 6.3 µV and < 121.9 millisecond (ms), the amplitude and latency of Pattern-reversal VEP size 1 were > 8.0 µV and < 93.0 ms, the amplitude and latency of Pattern-reversal VEP size 2 were > 8.4 µV and < 102.0 ms.

Conclusion: These ERG and VEP values using VerisTM Clinic V.6.4.6 (contact lens electrode) in healthy volunteers will be used as a reference values at Siriraj Hospital.
